Develop an understanding of the history and cultural contexts of the arts and humanities.
Rationale: I conducted an independent study this past summer under Dr. Michael Silvestri
while studying abroad in the United Kingdom. My research focused on the Irish
and Scottish reactions to British rule over the centuries. Through touring significant sites relevant to both
countries' struggles for independence I learned a lot about their respective histories and how they
intertwine with England's. Hence, I understand the contexts of the time periods and the effect
